Pantry - Before & During

I am thrilled to announce that the flooring is officially installed in the Pantry.
Woo hoo!

This is what it looked like around noon:

And then piece by piece, it started to go come together:

And voila! It was done by 2:00!

I can't wait for you to see what's next for this soon-to-be-hardworking little space.
It's going to be the belle of the ball when I'm done with it, I swear!
I plan to use tons and tons of different textures, colors, incorporate lots of great organizational and storage solutions, and give it a bunch of personality to boot.

My intention, and overall design philosphy, is to create beautiful, functional, comfortable, inspiring rooms that make you FEEL. Rooms that you can't look away from without a fight.

  3. Looks very nice. Is that laminate hard wood flooring? We just did that in our living room and just LOVE how it turned out!

  4. Do you like laminate flooring? I've heard mixed reviews from people saying that is scratches really easily. I love, love, triple love the look of it and so want to do it in my home but with a little boy am afraid it will scratch easily!!! Thanks -- love your blog!

  7. Hey Kristina!

We went with Laminate Wood Flooring instead of real hard wood flooring BECAUSE of its durability.
    It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to scratch.
Real hard wood scratches SUPER easily, and because we have a dog, we thought that would be the best option. Our dog has "bladder issues" in the middle of the night sometimes. We wanted to make sure we put down a product that could wipe up easily. I love my Swiffer Wet Jet, but it always left white residue on our real hard wood floors. It doesn't leave any streaks or residue on Laminate, and it smells & looks so great after you do it! Also, other than being a fraction of the cost of hard wood, it's easy for do-it-yourself-ers to install.

    Good luck!

  8. Hey Layla,

My first time to your BLOG. It's terrific! You signed the Vintage Husband Blog and thats where I found you. I too love cottage, coastal etc...etc. My business partner Sandy and I own The Tattered House in Roseville, CA where we sell a lot of the things you love. We love refurbishing old chairs and and adding beautiful fabrics and trims.

Speaking of old screen doors, Sandy and I have a pair in The Tattered House that we use to go in and out of our kitchen. We have had more complements on those doors.

Anyway, I can't wait to see what you do next.
