Guest Room Update
Little does he know that when he wakes up I'm going to ask him to move all the furniture out of the Guest Bedroom, so that he can rip down more drywall, and uncover more of those delicious horizontally-planked walls.
We also decided (and by "we", I mean "I") that while we have all the furniture out of the room, we're going to re-sand the hardwood flooring in there. I want the floors to have a warmer, honey-toned, feel throughout the house. That way they'll match my blinds, and the whole house will feel "sunnier".
It'll be neat to see the black kitchen cabinets and all of our dark espresso stained furniture pop against lighter floors too.
I picked up this "Starfish Strand" at HomeGoods, for the Guest Room while I was there last week...
The rope actually has a navy blue strand in it...so I had to buy it. :-)
Stay tuned for lots of photos, and maybe even some video, of the changes that he'll be making to the Guest Room this week and next.
One loving husband + one obsessed designer + one fixer upper =_________.
How would you fill in the blank?
I can't wait to see the new changes! I can just imagine the conversation with your hubby though, "Well, you see, the floors NEED to match the blinds."...LOL.
ReplyDelete=One Perfect Couple !!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day !!!
Kathy :)
At my house it would equal divorce. (Not really, but it is a test of a good marriage!) My husband once told me that he was pretty sure that if he went to hell, the devil would have him wallpapering or painting it with me!
ReplyDelete=HEAVEN!
ReplyDeleteI have to ask you where the blinds came from? Did you have them done custom or did you find them at a home improvement store or department store?
= a blog with beautiful pictures for me to stalk
ReplyDeletehehehe
Love the starfish strand!! I am going to have to pop in Home Goods this week!! What fabulous planked walls!! Love them! Janna
ReplyDelete=endless inspiration =)
ReplyDeleteMy husband's mantra: A happy wife is a happy life!
I love the plank walls and that bedding! The colors are gorgeous. I noticed you have a nice, dark stain on the floors in the kitchen...if this is already throughout the house, I would keep it. I think to better the contrast, a neutral rug, such as a sisal or jute, would compliment your other colors and textures nicely. And if you don't work on the floors, you have more time to relax with the hubbs! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous...Those are the hardwood floors i'm going to be putting in. Have to wait until my hubby returns from Iraq though. Yeah for you :)
ReplyDelete= HOME

D-I-V-O-R-C-E - that's the first word that came to mind. My husband hates moving furniture. He once said that he could never come home and not turn on the lights, because who knew if the furniture had moved that day.
ReplyDelete=A lifetime of togetherness through projects

ReplyDelete=An amazing room! For you that is.Around here it would = NOT HAPPENING! I had to lose my temper today with dh in order to express the urgency in which I want him to put up the rod in the laundry room I've been asking him to do for the last 3 years.
ReplyDeleteTell us......what is your secret?
Did you mention any of this to "him" earlier or is this going to be a big surprise??? Perhaps that's why he's sleeping in?
ReplyDeleteLayla...I forgot to ask...could you center on a home office/art studio design sometime? I saw that you had a design studio at one time...I'm at a loss for my home office/art studio...THANKS!
