Well, one of my readers actually found the two matching ones I needed! I sent her payment, (she got them on clearance at Marshalls, yay!) and they arrived the other day, safe and sound...
I love their silvery translucency. ( FYI- Mercury Glass is blown double walled, then silvered between the layers with a liquid silvering solution, and then sealed.)
I set them up on the mantle, just to get an idea of what they will look like this Christmas...
They look so naked without candles on top of them, but I just had to show you! :-)
Thank you SO much Mary!
PS...Today is the last day to enter Erin's Giveaway, don't forget to sign up! :-)
Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteOh how nice! They look great :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Allison
why wait for Christmas! I leave my mercury glass out all year - your mantel looks wonderful with them on it! would it look any other way????
ReplyDeleteJust for Christmas?! I think they look beautiful! You couldnt just switch the candles out seasonally?
ReplyDeleteI actually think they look good without candles! It's so hard to find nice mercury glass candlesticks in Australia - I've got one, but am searching for more.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you might recall that I've got an architectural semi-circle thingey like the one you are coveting and I have never regretted buying it, even though it was a little pricey. But way cheaper than original art and a real 'wow' piece for your home - I think you couldn't go wrong for $200. the dishwasher can wait!.
I have a mercury glass collection, too. Don't you just love how ladylike and sparkly it is? : )
ReplyDeleteOh the mighty power of bloggin' women. We can shop all around the world, smile. What a sweet thing for her to do for you. Now your set is complete and looks great up there. Enjoy~
ReplyDeleteThey're stupendous!
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty! Why wait till Christmas to use them? I think they would look great year round!
ReplyDelete.....and they look gorgeous up there .....silvia..
ReplyDeleteSo sweet of you to blog about it...and it was my pleasure to be able to find them for you! ;o) I am so happy to have made your mantle complete ~ even if my friend did think I was a little crazy when I freaked over finding them ~ then had to explain I was buying them for someone I had never met in my life...and I was going to send them to her...aren't blog friends just the best!? HaHa! Enjoy them! ;o)
ReplyDeleteThe joys of blogging!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE your mantle~
ReplyDeleteI spotted some mercury glass vases at our local homegoods and passed on them. I wanted to hold out for antique mercury glass, until I seen the price of the antiques. Next time I won't pass them up.

Have a happy day

I am in LOVE with your style and your cottage. It is, without a doubt, some of the best design out there. Love, love, love!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog - I have the same ones, but I bought them at Pottery Barn, if I would have seen them at TJ Maxx, one of my favorite stores, I would have saved a TON of money! I did get a great mercury glass vase at Michaels though on sale!
ReplyDeleteNo Way! I never thought of using readers to help me scourer the TJ Maxes around the country. But what a great plan (not that that was your intention). Way to go.
