Mercury Glass Candlesticks- Part Two

Remember a while back when I blogged about the Mercury Glass Candlesticks I bought at TJ Maxx?

Well, one of my readers actually found the two matching ones I needed! I sent her payment, (she got them on clearance at Marshalls, yay!) and they arrived the other day, safe and sound...

I love their silvery translucency. ( FYI- Mercury Glass is blown double walled, then silvered between the layers with a liquid silvering solution, and then sealed.)

I set them up on the mantle, just to get an idea of what they will look like this Christmas...

They look so naked without candles on top of them, but I just had to show you! :-)

Thank you SO much Mary!

  4. I actually think they look good without candles! It's so hard to find nice mercury glass candlesticks in Australia - I've got one, but am searching for more.
By the way, you might recall that I've got an architectural semi-circle thingey like the one you are coveting and I have never regretted buying it, even though it was a little pricey. But way cheaper than original art and a real 'wow' piece for your home - I think you couldn't go wrong for $200. the dishwasher can wait!.

  16. I spotted some mercury glass vases at our local homegoods and passed on them. I wanted to hold out for antique mercury glass, until I seen the price of the antiques. Next time I won't pass them up.

How nice of your reader to think of you. Love your matel.

    Have a happy day

  23. Love your blog - I have the same ones, but I bought them at Pottery Barn, if I would have seen them at TJ Maxx, one of my favorite stores, I would have saved a TON of money! I did get a great mercury glass vase at Michaels though on sale!

  24. No Way! I never thought of using readers to help me scourer the TJ Maxes around the country. But what a great plan (not that that was your intention). Way to go.
