This morning I woke up at 4:30 a.m. to go junkin' with Jessica, to see if we could find anything for them to use in their little "Half Note".
Yes, I said 4:30.
And, yes, I said A.m.
It's 8:00 p.m right now and I will be hitting the proverbial hay within minutes of publishing this post.
Here's a video of our junkin' journey. (I should go ahead and apologize now for the silliness you're about to see. We were a little delirious.) :-)
I'll be back with Half Note Kitchen photos tomorrow!

You sillies! Jessica, I know what you mean...there really are some scary garage sales and I keep going. We've had the most fun Junkin'. I did it by myself today, loud music in my truck and all! Found an adorable little stool for $6. Thanks for the video! Very entertaining!
ReplyDeleteCan I be your neighbor too? Looks like you guys had fun! I love that dresser by the way. Great find!
ReplyDeleteI had to crack up watching your video. We went junking today and pulled into a development that was having a neighborhood yard sale and.....no yard sales! Lots of closed garages and nothing. So strange! Luckily I found a couple treasures at a church sale we ended up at. So not a total loss! I just love yard sale season.

Cute - looks like you girls at least had fun together! I think your "bucket on wheels" is a mop bucket :)
ReplyDeleteIf J&G Flea Market in downtown Prattville is still there, they have good stuff!

How fun! Thanks for taking us along on your little adventure. I'm glad you had a nice sunny day for it! Say, what kind of camera did you use? It took a really nice quality video! ;)
ReplyDeletep.s. so glad your blog is now updating on my dashboard again...wasn't sure what was happening there for a while?
Great video! The yard sale part was so funny...haha..can't wait to see the magic your gonna perform on the pieces ya'll found!:0) Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many people were participating in the community yardsale! Did they leave the signs up from last week or something? Enjoyed the video with my morning coffee....
ReplyDeleteAhhh, what a let down for Jessica.
ReplyDeleteThat community yard sale was just too much! Maybe they didn't bother to tell the community? Hopefully, you'll find things somewhere else!
Loved the video!
Happy now, that I watched your morning of scouting.
ReplyDeleteI know that you will do great things with all of your finds for your cottage!

Happy now, that I watched your little morning junkette!

ReplyDeleteHi Layla,
ReplyDeleteI was worried that you guys weren't going to find something...I'm so glad you did. Can't wait to see the photos!
I forgot to mention that your posts are showing up again in my reader! Hooray!
ReplyDeleteFuuuun! I wanna go next time!! I am excited for summer & yard sales!! I love your blog! Thanks for all the GREAT posts! Cool truck btw :)
ReplyDeleteWe had our neighborhood garage sales last weekend. 3 houses on my block participated. Bummer that not more of those did. Cool table!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! I definitely need a junkin' buddy.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see pix tomorrow!
P.S. This actually showed up in my reader. Woo hoo!
Fun!
ReplyDeleteRhoda and I are hitting the flea market next weekend. No videos allowed. (and I am not starting at that aweful hour!!)
LOL! The community yard sale reminds me of one that was held down the road from my house. There is a very upscaled neighborhood that has a community yard sale once a year. I have never been able to go until this year. My daughter is in college and will be moving into a house off campus so I was looking for furniture, etc. for her. I was excited because I had heard I would find all sorts of great buys. I drove through this neighborhood of hundreds of homes and found about 8 homes holding a sale. It was very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteOh my that was fab, you must do this again...the junkin and the video...loved the music...
ReplyDeleteI must say that years ago my husband and I did this every Sat morning with coffee...and the rule is you always stop and ask if they have anything large that they did not put outside...there could have been a table or large area rug inside the house that you did not stop at...
We use to take 5.00 and see if we could fill the back seat of the car...watching this morning brought back great memories...a few times I sat on something and sent him to the bank machine!
Love the bucket on wheels, great planter YES in black with white flowers...Thanks again, Carol Ann
Hey, girls! Ya'll need to come to
ReplyDeleteB'ham, the sales are abundant. That was pretty funny, I was thinking you were def. not finding anything, so glad to see you scored something. I'm not usually disappointed in the neighborhood sales around here at all. They are the most fun to me.
Why don't you come on up here next Sat. & join us?
Love all of your finds! And your video is great! Perhaps you could try the thrift shops in your area for your next video?
ReplyDeleteJan at Rosemary Cottage
Love the blue chair! Can't wait to see what a little love will do for it.
ReplyDeleteOk, girl! I'm not a follower of any other blogs besides a few family members of mine, so we can all catch up on each others lives. BUT, I just had to tell you...I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!! I'm not even sure how I got over to you...I was blog surfing, which I normally don't do just because it can take up so much time!! AHHHH! I just spent an hour looking at all you've done to your house. You and your husband are "do-it-yourself-ers", like us! I love that and I love all the memories(good and bad) that come with doing it together. Anyways, I'll be checking your blog for sure to see your updates. I just added your button so that I could get over to you easily. Keep up the good work! You go girl!
ReplyDeletemisty:)
. . . and you make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know you've been nominated for an attitude of gratitude award! Thanks for such a fun blog to follow!
Adrienne
I can't wait to see what you do with the stuff that you DID find! That must have been really disappointing as far as the community yard sale was concerned. Love finding unique pieces (for not much money!) and trying to turn them into something cool! (although I am not nearly as good at it as you are!)
ReplyDeleteI loved the footage of going through the neighborhood with no yard sales...so funny. Glad you found something in the end.
ReplyDeleteFun video!!! I can't wait to see what you do with the chair and the dresser. I have an old French Provincial dresser that I would love to do something with as well. Maybe you will give me some inspiration! Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteThat was so fun! I felt like I was right with you guys...I did want to stop at the yard sale you drove past...
ReplyDeleteDarling idea!
My kind of decorating...Campagne Maison's motto: "Cheap is good, free is better" Sounds like she has a good mentor. It will be the adventure of a life time for the both of you..you go girls!
ReplyDeleteI was going to leave you a message that your posts still weren't showing up on my page but then I realized you crazy ladies got up so darned early and that is why the post showed up when it did.
ReplyDeleteBack in business.
Loved the video! I always get scared going garage sale shopping too! I feel bad if I leave and don't buy something, so my friends think I'm nuts! So I just avoid garage sales entirely now unless I see something I have to have while I'm driving by!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Love your video, and you are just so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE thrifting and going to yard sales. The yard sale scared her?? Oh my gosh, so funny. I would've gone!! I'm not scuurrred. :)
LOVE your blog! Thanks for sharing so much inspiration!
I love the ruffled accent on the bottom of the cabinets above the washer and dryer nook...so charming!
ReplyDeleteWhite does wonders, doesn't it!
I'm excited to see the rest.
Looking good! I think the lino is kind of cool :) That space above the beadboard where you painted over the border would be a really neat place for some wallwords or some other display - or some pegs to hang some cool burlap totes or numbered pails...I love that little niche!
ReplyDeletehmm ... apparently I am the only one that can't view the video? It says it's a private video? Hmm ... I'll try again later! It sounds like you ladies had fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Columbus Day! I'm starting homework and thought I'd stop in for quick morning pick me up :) Can I ask, what was the second flea market you and Jessica went to? Seeing all of your flea market finds makes me giddy because... my husband I are are transferring to a college up there in May! Yay! Most of the flea markets here don't really have alot of antique items that are salvageable, so maybe up there we'll have better luck! Here's to hoping...
