It's right across the street from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
I had their "Baguette Blanche". A delicious turkey sandwich, filled with grilled mushrooms & onions, herb cream cheese & pesto. My Mom had the "Honey Chicken Salad Croissant". Which was made up of chicken breast, walnuts, celery, red flame grapes and a delectable sweet honey mayonnaise.
After lunch, we strolled down the street with our smoothies. I had Peach/Raspberry, and Mom had Peach/Mango. We stopped at "The Paris Market", a couple of blocks down from Cafe Ambrosia.
I remembered that Country Living had featured their shop a while back, and was anxious to see what was inside. The window displays were beautiful...
Don't you just love the picket fence covered in old book pages?
Makes me want to cover something with them too!
I didn't take any photos of the shops main floor, but I couldn't resist snapping some downstairs. Just look at this place...
These green bins drove me wild!
And the antique bookcases, brimming with books that all had the same color spines, were amazing. The strings of light bulbs adds so much charm. I may have to steal the idea for my Reading Room. :-)
The table and chandelier in this next photo were incredible. And I love the mood the whole vignette creates.
It conjures up images of a Tuscany...breezes bending their way around tall, straight cypresses...olives darkening with oil...grapes ripening on vines. Hazy slopes dotted with colorful distant hill towns. (sigh) I really need to take a trip there some day.
Here is another vignette I fell in love with...
The dusty blue "sideboard" behind my mom was incredible.
I think I may have to re-do my linen press, to make it look more like it. :-)
I'll be back tomorrow with more photos of Savannah. It was my favorite city we visited on the whole trip, and I can't wait to bring Kevin back there in the Fall.
Oh! And thank you so much to everyone who left me Birthday comments last Friday! You guys are the sweetest! :-)

Savannah is so enchanting with it's old world charm.
ReplyDeleteWe like to stay at The Marshall House Inn on Broughton. It is an historic inn and you can walk to everything - park squares, shopping, and dinner.
ReplyDeleteHI! Loved the pictures of the shop! My husband and I are going to Savannah next week to celebrate our 10th anniversary. I will have to look up the cafe and shop while we are there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Michele
Isn't it fun discovering a new place? Pretty photos, Layla!
ReplyDeleteI love Savannah. I visited there last October and I've been dying to return! I'd like to go for about 4-5 days atleast.
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely things.....I love going somewhere and getting ideas for new ways to decorate my home. I too love that picket fence covered with book pages. I plan to cover a steam trunk I have with old sheet music pages.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit to Savannah!

You know, I haven't been EVERYWHERE yet, but i still think that Savannah is my favorite place in the whole world. It just felt like home when we visited, even with the humidity and the bugs that love my flesh! Did you go to Bonaventure? My husband took some great photos there and we enlarged them for our bedroom... now i can wake up under the live oaks every morning! can't wait to see the rest of your photos!

ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a fun trip!! I was given an award today and wanted to pass it on to you! Thanks for all your inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteWe went there on a family vacation a couple summers ago. We loved it! We did all the tours and went to Tybee Island, it was wonderful! Looks like you had fun. I didn't get to visit the pretty shops because my hubby doesn't like that but we did eat at an amazing little Italian place.
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite kind of store and decorating. I want to go there. It will be a long trip from Canada for just one store. You will have to find more places so I justify a trip.
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds like you had a great trip!
ReplyDeletethat shop is awesome! i have to go to savannah!

I just visited Savannah for the first time last week. We had breakfast at Cafe Ambrosia. It was such a cute place. I planned on going to The Paris Market, but by the time I had a chance, they were closed. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm a Savannah native, so it brings me great happiness to see my hometown featured on your blog! Thanks for the pics! There's no place like Savannah!
ReplyDeleteReally inspiring and fun pictures. thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteI *almost* applied to SCAD when I graduated from college. LOVE Savannah. Hubby & I went there on our honeymoon. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those apothecary jars filled with lemons and limes! If I find any in my thrift store jaunts, I definitely want to pick some up... So easy to change them out with the seasons and with different table linens... Plus, my kitty can't pull everything out of them, like she does when I put out bowls of fruit. Eeeeesh.
ReplyDeleteI visited Savannah for the first time a couple of weeks ago and my favorite shop was...The Paris Market! Here's a link to one of my photos - I haven't posted the others yet...Great store.
