Someone sent me flowers this morning...
Wasn't that sweet of Him?
:-)
Gertrude S. Wister once said, "The flowers of late Winter and early Spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size".
I couldn't agree more.
Seeing those sunny blooms bursting from the ground this morning instantly made me feel more alive too!
So in the spirit of all things uplifting, I thought I'd share this great list of advice my Mom e-mailed me recently...hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old Farmers Advice:
Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.
Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.
Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.
Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.
You cannot unsay a cruel word.
Every path has a few puddles.
When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
The best sermons are lived, not preached.
Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
Don't judge folks by their relatives.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.
Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't bothering you none.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.
Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
Always drink upstream from the herd.
Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.
If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Happy Wednesday y'all!
:-)

ReplyDeleteLove the farmer sayings.

I LOVE that the Lord cares about all the little things in our lives and loves us enough to not only send us flowers, but CREATE them. Thanks for reminding me to praise His name!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list of sayings to live by! Each one is so true.
ReplyDeleteI did a post on daffodils today -- a surprize bouquet on a doorstep. They haven't started bursting out of the ground here yet.
Thank you for the important sayings to live by.
I love the flowers and the advice! I'm linking your list to my blog. I found the list in a couple of different places, and I like one version that ended with: Live Simply. Love generously. Care Deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. What a great post; thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to start your morning. Your gift from God is a true blessing and I can totally relate to that feeling of being put in a good mood with such a simple little thing like a patch of flowers. It does the heart and soul good....

Every good gift & every perfect gift is from above.... James 1:17
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding us to acknowlege Him. Love your Momma's rules too. ;-)
I lOVE it, I really needed to read that! The flowers are uplifting too!
ReplyDeleteI remember my dad saying so many of these things when I was growing up. He was a farmer, and there were always other farmer's around the house, so we heard so many sayings like this that we used to laugh at all the time. Now that I'm 'all grown up', I see the truth in all of those statements instead of the humor.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great memories. I've been missing my dad lately, and this gave me some warm fuzzies while remembering those days.
Words to live by~
ReplyDeleteYou're killing me with those daffodils! Still months away for us Northern folk. What sweet farmy advice, too. Thanks for the day brightener!
ReplyDeleteGood advice - excellent in fact. I like the flowers. Are they really in your garden? Please say it isn't so. Our gardens are still frozen solid with flurries on top.
ReplyDeleteI love daffodils... and every girl loves to receive flowers of any kind :)

ReplyDeleteKat :)
Thanks for sharing your flowers. They are lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteNeeded some words of wisdom today.
Best wishes.
I cannot believe you have daffodils already! Just the photo was enough to cheer me up! Enjoy the spring splendor :)
ReplyDeleteI found buds by my mailbox yesterday. BUDS!! Spring is just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. Thanks for sharing your blessing!
ReplyDeleteHE loves to bless his kids, doesnt HE? Great post!
ReplyDeleteI get impatient for the first sight of spring so around this time of year I go to the local stores and buy tulips, daffodils, or hyacinths that are already planted and ready to bloom from a pot. They smell fantastic and brighten my room so much. Yay spring!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words, and beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteYou put it all into perspective.
Aw that was a precious post.. where I live, its still in the 20s.. spring is still at least a couple of months away! But still, seeing those daffodils made me excited and made me feel like spring was right around the corner! I needed that! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, such fresh and lovely flowers, He is so good. Just want to say I've been enjoying your blog very much, keep up the good work. Love all the beautiful things here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Layla for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHomespun wisdom is the best--especially when it gets delivered with daffodowndillies! Thanks so much for the smile.

It was EXTREMELY sweet of Him and I'm happy because that means He will send me flowers very soon!
ReplyDeleteYou can never have too many Daffodils! Thanks for sharing yours with the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteNever thought as them as a gift from HIM before....I love that! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why it is hard for me to read blogs for the next 3 months! I won't be getting those beautiful flowers until March or April, at the earliest. Spring flowers are my absolute favorites!! So instead of feeling bummed out that it has already started for you lucky Southerners, I am going to let this be a reminder that He promises spring WILL come!! I can hardly wait!
ReplyDeletePretty flowers and I really enjoyed reading the list your mom sent, so true!
ReplyDeleteAw. No flowers here anytime soon. We were given a blizzard this morning. Thanks for the pictures though...I can't wait for Him to deliver flowers here too.
ReplyDeleteI love the farmer's advice! Do you mind if I put a link to your post on my blog?
ReplyDeleteLove the advice--simple words, profound meaning! Thanks for sharing...blessings!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking foward to it!
ReplyDeleteLove the farmer sayings.
Work from home India
A friend at work gave me a potted azalea for my birthday on Friday. While reading about the Language of Flowers, I saw that giving an azalea means "take care of yourself for me." That was such an appropriate sentiment coming from my friend, but I think that's what God wants us to do, too.
