Master Bedroom "Do"

We did some demo over here in the master bedroom today, in preparation for the big re-do.
Which, come to think of it, isn't really a re-do.
It's more like a "do", period.

Ya see, we haven't even really touched the room since we moved into this place three years ago. It's just been a big, blank box all this time.

But starting this month, it's BYE BYE bare windows, texture-less walls, crappy trim, outdated ceiling fan and stamped drywall ceiling!

HELLO comfy, cozy retreat- just for me and my Sweets!

Some of our plans include building a bed for our king-sized mattress (that's currently laying on the floor! <:-O), adding wood planks to a couple of the walls (it'll be attached on top of the drywall this time), and making a trip to the Greyhound station in Montgomery, to pick up two incredible antique nightstands (gifted to us by an amazingly sweet & talented friend of mine who is shipping them to us.)

Let the adventure begin!

  2. I'm so happy to hear that you still have rooms to do in your house! I always picture your house being so perfect! I have PLANS for every room in my house, but I I can only really take on one every six months or so (for both emotional and financial reasons). I'm so glad to hear you do things like sleep with your mattress on the floor, too!

  23. It's going to look amazing! I'm in process of trying to transform our master into the vision I have in my head, but doing it one accent piece at a time as the budget and time/energy allow. Nothing I love more than seeing these great design visions come to life. I'll definitely be anxiously awaiting your "after" pictures. :-) Have fun

  28. I am happy to hear you will get to start your master bedroom. I was intrigued when you mentioned the ceiling. We have those stamped ceilings all thru our house and I hate them. We removed some walls to make two room into one room. When we tried to patch the ceiling it didn't turn out great. It still BUGS me alot. I just don't know what else to do with them. Is there an easy way to fix? Hope you have some words of advise! Good luck on your room. I am excited to see what you will come up with. Lisa

  30. I can't wait either! Everything you do always comes out great! You had featured a bench that I had made out of a headboard/footboard a while ago...well, you might want to take a look at the king size headboard I made a couple of weeks ago from an old wooden door! Here's a link to the post, if you're interested:

  50. I found a keyboard in my closet almost like the keyboard you found in your closet (visualizes closet all over the world with sad keyboards hidden away). I ran it over to the nearest pawn shop and traded it for a nice little sander and even got some cash back. Never underestimate what you can buy and sell at a pawn shop.

Check out my posting done with smileys (due to camera with a issue - maybe it needs to go in the closet): http://i-am-is-my-blog.blogspot.com/2010/07/of-karma-temper-tantrums-southern.html
