We arrived home from Tybee Island around 9 o'clock last night, and the CREEPIEST thing happened as we walked in and out of the side door of our house.
And because I thought maybe it would be less creepy if you were with us during the seemingly paranormal experience, we HAD to grab the video camera so that you could witness the creepiness too.
Check it out...
(If you dare!)

That was scary and freakin' hilarious! I love that you live in a neighborhood where you can leave a car key in plain site. That was pretty freaky though! Glad you're safe!
ReplyDeleteThat was too funny! I didn't know there were remotes on keys for windows!
ReplyDeleteThis was awesome!! How scary, but soooooo funny at the end!! Glad it was just the key!!
ReplyDeleteAs a former BMW owner, I knew what was going on but couldn't figure out where the heck you guys had the key. (The windows roll down if you hold the unlock button down. Very handy for those hot summer days.)
ReplyDeleteToo funny! :)
That was hilarious. I am SOOOOOO happy you took us along for the ride..... I am still laughing.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I was SURE that you guys were going to do something at the end that jumped out at the screen and scared the crap out of me! So funny!! My favorite was the X-file music!! ahhahasdfaa
ReplyDeletexo, Meredith

ReplyDeleteso funny!!!! what an experience! what if it would have taken days to figure it out, you would have been freakin' well more than you were:) thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHAH! You guys were cracking me up. I have an Audi and suspected what was going on. Seems this was a Beemer! German engineering at it's best.
ReplyDeleteIf you all need psychological counseling, I have a sister in Tybee who's a Psychologist. :)
Too funny! I was spooked. I love ghost stories, and we visited the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO and had some fun there. I thought... "wow, I've never heard of a haunted car before but you never know!" Kind of glad to find out it was just the key. Thanks for the laugh! :)

ReplyDeleteI am so glad that I watched the whole thing! I almost called you half way through to see if you were ok :)
ReplyDeleteLittle James came in here while the video was playing and when you turned the camera to Kevin he said "hey, that's my friend from that house with the hammock!"
Looking forward to seeing what you were up to at Tybee!
That was too funny! I was sure there was some reasonable explanation but couldn't think of one and then I did start to get creeped out. Too bad this didn't happen in October.
ReplyDeleteThat was fantastic!!! Oh my goodness. Thank you sooo much for thinking of us, remembering to grab the camera and sharing...
ReplyDeleteToo funny!! Yikes. I would have been hiding in the house for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat was funny!

That is too hilarious!
ReplyDeleteTHAT IS JUST TOO FUNNY! I would totally be freaked out as well if I didn't know the key was under the mat! lol
ReplyDeleteOMG I am laughing so hard right now - that is just hysterical, you couldn't have made that story up. By the way I was totally freaked out to!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty funny! Where is Angela Lansbury when you need her?
ReplyDelete: )
Julie M.
Such a great share! My older kidlets walked by as I started the video. My Boy got a kick out of it and My Sweet Pea was just as freaked out as you were. What a relief to have that mystery solved! But guess what! Now you and all of us have a great Halloween trick to play on people as they walk up to our front doors in a couple months. http://mannhome.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLOL Ya'll made my day!
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome! My husband hates to be spooked and couldn't even finish watching with me. He walked away after the first phone call. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is hilarious! Can you imagine if he'd set off the alarm??? You would have needed to change your pants! lol
ReplyDeleteAmber
Silver Lining
You made my day too! LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laughs. I really needed that! :)
haaaaaaa i love being scared. this was so funny, i love the x-files music.
ReplyDelete...and my daughter's name is josette, we call her josie most of the time. :]
That was hilarious by the way!
ReplyDeleteThat was the funniest thing ever! Only you guys!
ReplyDeleteLayla & Kevin.
ReplyDeleteThey say there are two types of people or animals.
The saying I think is "take flight or fight".
You guys are awesome.
I would have NEVER walked down the driveway and faced any of my fears.
I probably would have sprinted all the way back to Tybee never to return till my very "stay and fight" (or face your fears) type hubbie got answers. hehe
I admire your spunk.
Glad you are back and safe. geri.
oh I am just one of you blog "stalkers" and i watched this just now. I was cracking up when the music came on. Good editing! maybe that should be on your career path too. ANyway thanks for a great laugh. COOL car!
ReplyDeleteHow funny! It's amazing what tricks a sleep deprived & tired brain will play on you. Guess you'll need to find a better place to hide the key next time!
ReplyDeleteToo cool! You guys may have felt scared, but you acted calmly and even had the presence of mind to video it and include us! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGlad there was no Lettered Cottage Car Spook ;)
I was scared for you and then I laughed after the "mystery" was solved...how funny.
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny. PS: I wish I lived in a neighborhood where I could leave my car key under the mat.
ReplyDeleteTHAT was one of the funniest things I've ever seen! I have to point out that the key wasn't very well hidden under that mat ... except at nighttime!!
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought of chapter 20 in "Anne of Green Gables". She's conjured up in her imagination that the forest between her house and her best friend's is haunted at night, but her adoptive mother won't hear it. Marilla makes Anne walk through the woods at night...
ReplyDelete"Anne never forgot that walk. Bitterly did she repent the license she had given to her imagination. The goblins of her fancy lurked in every shadow about her, reaching out their cold, fleshless hands to grasp the terrified small girl who had called them into being."
Your scope of imagination is wonderful and vast!
Too funny! As a BMW owner, I too wondered if that was the case...thought maybe they had the key and were hiding in the bushes. Be thankful you didn't set off the alarm...BMW alarms shriek something awful! You'd have woken up everyone within a 5 mile radius!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! Hilarious! I was scared just watching it! You guys rock!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh!!!!
ReplyDeleteGuys.. I'm seriously cracking up... Thanks for sharing.. too funny :) Amber
ReplyDeleteLOL...I was just as scared as you were!! Glad there were no ghosts involved!
ReplyDeleteI would have wet my pants! Soo funny!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you thought to video the whole thing! I could have listened to your neighbor laugh about it all night. Send the video in to AFV (ameica's funniest video) and see if you could win! Never a dull moment at The Lettered Cottage! Thanks for the LAUGH!
ReplyDeleteLayla and Kevin,
ReplyDeleteOkay...that would have freaked me out. Especially when calling the neighbor and she is totally perplexed. Oy! Glad it turned out okay. I agree with the posting above...you should turn it in to America's Funniest Home video.
This was the scariest but funnest thing ever-It really made my day complete. I would have freaked but now it is so funny. Thanks for posting this and doing it in such a fun way.
ReplyDeleteThat is just hilarious. I would have been just as creeped out as you were, Layla. And my hubby would have been cool as a cucumber, just like Kevin was. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteYou will have to re-do this one at Halloween....too funny you kids!
ReplyDeleteTHAT WAS THE BESTEST FUN I HAD ALL DAY!!!
ReplyDeleteBummer can't see it :(
ReplyDeleteOh, that was too funny! I'm glad you filmed your suspenseful moment.
ReplyDeleteYOu had me gooing too. I was right with you and would not have been able to sleep until I found out what was going on. Thank you for the air sucking moment!
ReplyDeleteAlways, Teresa
Oh, my goodness! I was about to croak! Now I'm laughing!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That was scary, but then it was funny once you learned what caused it!!! Thanks for a good laugh tonight! Glad you had a nice time in Tybee. Can't wait to see what you all are up to next. Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteOh that is too funny! I didn't even know they made keys that would roll the windows down!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna lie, if it had been me, I would have been crying! But at the end I was laughing so hard! Thanks for sharing you guys!
ReplyDeleteOk, you had me scared!!! I would have gone inside and bolted the door...and put a sofa against the door...and a chair...and the refrigerator...just in case the car got any ideas during the night!!! :)
ReplyDelete2 funny! (and we have the same mat, hope it doesn't start doing strange things!)
ReplyDeleteThat's just SO funny!
ReplyDeleteI loved it when "strange" things like that happen! But we never find out the answers... o.o
Time to find a new hiding place for 'THE KEY' though! :)
That was hilarious!!!!! The hubby was watching with me and we both died laughing at the end! You guys are nuts! But glad the car wasn't haunted....for the sake of you mail. ;-)
ReplyDeletehey guys...I needed that laugh more than you know. :) Oh Lord, that was funny! I think I would've freaked out more than you all did! :)
ReplyDeleteLove ya
Missy
That is absolutely hysterical. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteOkay. That was indeed completely freaky and entirely hilarious! I'm pretty sure that I will laughing about this all day. So glad you guys made it back safe and sound (and ghost-less ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously funny stuff. You crack me up.
ReplyDeleteahahahaha oh my gosh I was getting freaked out with you guys. That is so funny! LOL!
ReplyDeleteTotally hysterical! I would have totally had to send my 4 dogs to investigate for me! I have remote start, but I had no idea that some cars roll the windows down via remote. Can you IMAGINE if that car had actually started??

Layla,
ReplyDeleteDid you get my email?
Your Friend,
Deborah
Good gosh. Lucky you two are sooo cute cuz your high level reasoning skills are, well,... JK!
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe the mega EMFs from your "magnetic" personalities were the trigger!
Oh Layla and Kevin, that made my day!!! That was so funny! Glad the mystery was solved!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea I could love you any more.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I do.
Oh, and that X files music, perfect.
I was terrified watching that! I was hoping nothing was going to jump out and frighten you and me too while watching! So happy the car wasn't haunted!
ReplyDeleteLOL oh my gosh that was hilarious! I know some mini coopers & BMWs have that problem with the windows doing their own thing due to a faulty switch or hitting a button too many times on the key fob.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHHAHA!! That was great. "The key is under the mat and it does have those controls". How funny. Um, ya..it cracked me up when you said, "What do I text? Come out of the bushes?" ROFL! That is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteOkay...I'm crackin' up...how funny is that! You guys are the best ;o)
ReplyDelete~Andrea
Oh...by the way...I was playing a video game (MX vs. ATV Unleashed)and noticed the background music was Trust Company...can't wait to hear Kevin's new stuff.
Ha! Mystery solved...(loved your accompanying music on the video, BTW!)
ReplyDeleteOh. my. word. Hysterical! I couldn't believe how calm your face was when you were "frieked out." My eyes would've been huge and scared!
ReplyDeleteJust think if you had texted "Come out of the bushes!" Your neighbor would have thought you were loony. So funny!
What presence of mind to video the whole thing though. Definitely AFV material. You could win big with that one!!
Nothing that says "welcome home" like a haunted car in the driveway!
OH my gosh, that was hilarious! I was on edge the whole time, thinking something was going to jump out of the screen like those obnoxious emails (that I forward to everyone I know). ;)
ReplyDeleteToo funny!!
I was getting chills for you! omg how hilarious! glad it worked out the way it did!!!
ReplyDeletethat is hilarious! i made my hubs watch with me because i was getting so scared for you!!!! you are such goofballs, we love you, keep making us smile :)
ReplyDeletelove the zacadias (is that how it's spelled, probably not) in the background. Love the video.
ReplyDeleteI would have been freaking out. That's too funny!
ReplyDeleteOkay..I'm dying to see this video, but for some reason my computer keeps shutting it down after 18 seconds! Boo!
ReplyDeletelaughing...hard! This would be me! I even showed it to my 8 yr old, my mom, my husband....
ReplyDeletehey, we are heading to tybee for the 1st time for labor day...any hints or suggestions?
HYSTERICAL! While watching this & I heard a LOUD pop noise. Thought it was one of our balloons from our bday party! It sounded like it was in the room w/me & I jumped! I went around & checked them all... NOT one was popped?!!??
ReplyDeleteThis cracked me up so much that I came home and told my husband about it. And I'm not one to EVER admit that I'm trolling blogs at work :)
ReplyDeletemy 8 yr old watched the video with me. he was totally spooked! How funny! He's still talking about it 20 minutes later... :)
ReplyDeleteThat was the best! hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I love your facial expression when you are talking with your neighbor and she tells you they are at the beach.
ReplyDeleteHilarious!!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThat was the greatest video to watch!! I was on pins and needles! How funny - how it all turned out! Don't feel bad...I'd been freaked out too! -Karen
