  12. Well YEAH! Our bedroom has potential but needs so much help! Would love to get a great old metal bed frame for it, an antique dresser and repaint some furniture but sadly am overwhelmed by the whole thing! We live in Rome, GA. Lots of antiques around here. Nearby Cave Spring is a great place for antiquing from what I understand. I would love to be considered! Good luck with the demo!

  14. Ummmmm who WOULDN'T want you to come help with their house? We definitely do!! We live in Michigan, so if you could put up with a yankee family, we are in! :) We love our home, but some of the rooms just don't live up to their potential! We have some good basics, but could use some help with layout, accessorizing, etc. Oh, and then we are finishing our basement, so if you wanted a truly blank slate, we could do that too. Let us know! I think we have personality and we'd love to document our pursuit of a beautiful home on camera. Love your style and we'd love to be involved in your show!

  24. Oh my gravy, I'd love for you guys to come help us out with our living room. It's a super long, skinny room with built-ins on the entire back wall. Totally dominates the room and keeps things only oriented one way. My hubby and I have wanted to take out the built-ins (they aren't anything spectacular) and change up the room for ages but just don't know what to do! We're in NW Wisconsin, about 1.5 hrs NE of the Twin Cities.

We have an old farm, complete with a brick farmhouse built in the 30's...love it. We need serious help with our dining room. It's gi-hugic and I have no idea what to do with it to make it feel warm and cozy and inviting (rather the white-ish box with a table in the middle as it currently is).

    Good luck with your show!!

    ReplyDelete

I have been collecting for a kitchen remodel for several years. I have some cool vintage metal cabinets, some with lazy susans in them and have even recently SCORED a beautiful 1959 pink stove and ventahood!!!! I need a bigger fridge but am hoping to find one in good condition and maybe chalkboard paint it. I am very cottagey with a little bit of beach cottage since we live on the lake. Just need some help putting it all together. If ya'll want to head to a beautiful small town with a great downtown and gorgeous small businesses. Give me a shout! We aren't your typical "dying" small town.

  45. We would LOVE to have you guys come to Annapolis, MD!!! We need to renovate our kitchen/dining room. It is a loooong room across the back of the house with a brick fireplace at one end. We still have the 80's fake wood countertops (YUCK!). And we really want to add an island or something to break up the two rooms.
We also need to finish our basement. We are sponsoring two mids this year and they REALLY need some place to go and get away from out 3 kids.

I have a new couch, chairs, & rug on order, but I'm second guessing myself as usual on making everything come together with my "old" pieces. You've been to my house to pick up the "previously loved dishwasher" - so you've seen the style of my home. I would love any help if you're interested!! If not, I hope to see you at the Country Living Fair!

  61. We're in Minneapolis and definitely need some rooms redone but guess what? We are in the middle of a big painting/wall resurfacing project so our kitchen and living room are ripped up. Not a very pleasing environment for a camera. :(

  62. Canada? Would you come to Canada? I'm in Central Alberta. I have no idea where to even start "Junkin'" here. I go to an antique show/sale every spring and get little stuff, but that's not really junkin'...and the big stuff isn't in my budget ;-)

At least have your show come to Canada, ok? Good luck with getting it picked up!

  77. Your show would be SO-O-O up my alley. I actually live in a quaint 1798 small town in a 1950s cottage that I renovated mostly myself. My upstairs loft I would love to make into an office but an office that matches my 1950s look and feel.(Which is 1/2 trash to treasure for sure.)

I also do a lot of marketing and p.r. and our town - Lewisburg WV - has been named one of the best for art so how fitting! I think we could totally have a good time here.

And because I used to work in the hotel biz, I think I could swing that too.

PLEASE come. I need you. Our town needs you. It's a win-win.

We've got the basics but need to inject some unusual pieces and I love vintage but it's currently missing in our home (plus we are within walking distance to an antique mall and there's a flea market about half an hour away--perfect location!). PLUS, Scripps Networks (home to HGTV and DIY Network) is here, so Knoxville would be ideal. :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. I live here! Ramsey, MN (northern Twin Cities) Would love your help with my new home. We came from a much smaller home and now need some architectural detail and color and "lettered cottage type stuff". Help me turn my new home from apartment-feeling drab to new home wonderment!

  99. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...come to my house, you won't regret it. I live in Paso Robles, CA...beautiful wine country with rolling hills and oak trees, not to mention 25 minutes from the beach (Pism, Avila, Cayucas, Morro Bay)!

I have the perfect house for your show. It has good bones, well mostly, but I need help decorating a couple of room (and our yard is in need, too, but don't know if you're doin yards :-)

Anyway, I have a family room that has an awkward layout and a bonus room that has an even more awkward layout. Plus, I was laid off from my teaching job, so that's kind of put a halt to doing much.

AND.. I love you guys! I have been following your blog for awhile. Oh yeah... my husband plays guitar so Kevin would totally enjoy it, too! :-)

    Did I mention wine tasting??

So, if your production company allows, and you want a little vacay to CA, COME ON!!!

  100. My husband and I just bought a 110-year-old house in Kyle, TX (right outside of Austin). It would be unreal (and awesome!) to have some design input. 105. If you do get a show (how fun!) we'd love to have you at our home in Houston, Tx. My kitchen is already inspired by you:
    http://andthentherewashome.blogspot.com/2010/08/our-remodeled-on-budget-kitchen.html

so it's only natural that you influence other parts of the house too, rrrrright? lol. ;)

  106. How exciting that you guys would get your own show!!! I'll be watching for sure! We're in East Hampton, CT if you're in the market for lots of cool old antiques there are some good spots in CT for antiquing. We are design-challened in our old family house, but I would also love input on staging one or more of my real estate listings! Especially the living room for my gorgeous antique victorian on the CT River - had some more realtors come through today and they felt the living room was too busy and competed with the view of the river.

  107. YES come to Fairview, TN (just outside of Nashville) and HELP! me figure out how to pull all of my renovation projects together! I've got so many projects going on at one time, plus I'm working 45 hrs. a week. Plus you and Kevin could fish on our little lake and eat fresh eggs from our chickens. It would totally thrill me to have you here. Of course you might question my sanity when you walk in the front door!

We're in Oceanside, CA. Avid DIY'ers. And I'm Goodwill/Antique/Craigslist hunters.

We're in the middle of a minor refurb of the downstairs bath, and the next big project is gutting the master bath - shower/toilet room to the studs. It *REALLY* (I mean, really) needs help.

I live in Murfreesboro TN. 30 miles outside of Nashville. Would love to have you here. I'd even cook for you while you work!

WE have the beach close, mountains, but better yet, we have the Nester close by, who doesn't need your help, but I am sure she'll come say hi and Emily (because we were all at the same church.) Yes, we are going to start a bidding war on you. Plus, you need to attack a room where five children live and romp...that would be new for you (especially with three teen boys.) Can't wait to see it.

  126. Are you SERIOUS!!??

Dear Layla, you don't know me (YET!) but I consider us dear friends. We first met back in 2008 - before your blog was all fancy with ads and the cute beadboard background. Seriously, I've been cheering for you and taking inspiration from your home for years now. You helped me find "my" style - which is your style. You helped me understand that even though I'm not living at the beach in So Cal anymore, I can still feel the calm of the beach in my house in Colorado. I don't need mountains, I need sand and water and lots and lots of white. My husband and I have made big changes in our home (painted the cabinets white, put in dark hardwood floors) but haven't finished off the look because well, we have 3 kids and a job and stuff and you know, we're on a budget too AND I'm still learning how to buy stuff. So anyway, YES, we would take you in.

Kat (your bestie) - Highlands Ranch, CO

p.s. I'm pretty sure Kevin would LOVE Colorado. It's pretty cool.

With her tummy getting bigger and with 3 other kids, she's losing engergy fast and I can only do so much being as I'm not at all a interior decorator. Please come to Alaska!!!

  163. You've totally got to head west and not just to Seattle, but east of there - to Snoqualmie. You would LOVE it here. It is close enough to the city to do the antique stores in town, but far enough away to be countryburb. We have a ton of space (too ashamed to admit just how much here) and so you could take your pick of the many different places. I'd love help with our lower level - we refer to it as the "Mom please move in" suite. Yes, we're odd like that and actually want my mom to move from El Paso to come in with us. I bet if you visited to shoot a show like this, it would be THE REASON she would finally take us up on the offer. But essentially, you would have about 1000 sf (2 bedrooms - one for her, one for our 13 year old nephew, a living room, a bar/eating nook and a bathroom) to do to your heart's desire. We've...okay...*I* have collected PLENTY to get you started. We're so far going with a bit of a vintage wooden boat, PNW beach theme in there, but we're game for whatever.

And if you're too afraid to hang out in our walk out basement all that time, we have a design disaster on the upper floor and you could do the first ever puppy playroom makeover. About 300 sf of free form space outside of the three upstairs bedrooms that we have a reading nook, work desk and, yes, truly, a puppy playroom. We need help making that space functional, but PRETTY and puppy friendly. Last, we have two bedrooms upstairs that by the time you got out here, we'd be ready to deocrate as kiddie rooms and/or guest rooms. Hence why we're trying to get mom to move in (the kiddie part). I've got some ideas for a travel themed kid room that I'd love your help with.

Generally, I promise you wouldn't have to go into too many of our bathrooms, the main kitchen is pretty good to go and you'd have some unique, wide open (aka, great for photo/video equipment) spaces to work in. Contrary to popular belief, it is not always dark and gray here and hey, with all the natural light we get, we get the best kind - that overcast, cloudy day fun. Unless you come in the summer when it is bright blue skies all the time.

Come on over. We'd LOVE to have you. And as you can tell, we've got plenty of space to host you and any crew.
