The Cottage Next Door

In case anyone wants to be neighbors with Kevin and I, here's a picture of the cottage that just came up for sale next door to our house.

Isn't it delicious? It's needs some work, but don't you think it could be the cutest little thing?
It's for sale for $85,000. It's 988 square feet, has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a roomy kitchen, a small formal living room just inside the front door, and a den in the back of the house- overlooking the woods. Here's a photo of the woods behind our house, right next door:

Occasionally, when I'm too exhausted to work on the house, I enjoy sitting on our deck, sipping Riesling from a tiny antique wine glass, and reading Cottage Living magazine. The birds serenade me, dappled sunshine falls all around me through the branches overhead... it's so magical.
So if you can't move in next door, at least stop by and enjoy my deck with me next time you're in the area. :-)

  6. Sarah W. just sent me here for a look at your blog. It's absolutely wonderful and if you don't mind I'll add you to my list, so I can remember you!

    I hope you continue blogging!

The little yellow house looks like something my husband and I have been looking for, to retire to the Ozarks. He saw the photo and wanted to know where it is! It's not only cute as it can be, but the price is great!

  7. This darling little cottage sits in Prattville, Alabama. It's a quaint little city, complete with historic downtown streets filled with antique stores, cafes and flower shops. And uptown, you can find everything from Books-A-Million to TJ Maxx. Two and a half hours from the Gulf Coast, two and a half hours from Atlanta and one and a half hours from Birmingham.

  8. Now that's a house I could love. It looks like one I have seen in dreams. Only mine had grey with white trim. And the price oh my. It's affordable there.

    My first time visiting you.

    Ciao

  9. Layla,
What a charming cottage! Prattville, huh? Would be a 1 1/2 - 2 hour commute (each way) for me, but it is soooo cute. Some fresh paint, some great flowers out front - it's just begging someone to come and play with and in it! Plus, great neighbors..

  11. Love this little yellow cottage. It has so much potential! For that price, it's awfully tempting to snatch that cute little thing right up. -Julia

  12. I don't believe this!! We live in your town!! I almost wrote it, but wasn't sure if you wanted others to know where we live :) We've just sold our home on Spruce Street and I stopped by that cute little cottage the other day! The price is a bit higher now, though. It's much smaller than what we want now, but oh the potential!! And to be located on that street!! Location, location, location!!
