As a follow-up to my post on "Misti's Flea Market Find" the other day, I thought I'd share these photos of the lovely burlap beauties one of my gracious readers led me to.
They're coffee sack-covered cork boards, and I think they are fantastic!
The woman behind all of this fantastic-ness is Maya, of
She did a wonderful tutorial on how to make these snazzy boards here.
I saw a couple of old burlap coffee sacks at the flea market the other day.
I think I have officially found my next project. :-)
Oh I just LOVE Maya. I've been lusting after her stuff for quite some time now.
ReplyDeleteI ABSOLUTELY LOVE,LOVE,LOVE THIS. I RECENTLY DID SOME "MISTREATMENTS" IN THE COMPUTER ROOM OUT OF BURLAP JUST A SHORT TIME BEFORE YOU DID YOUR BEAUTIFUL DRAPES IN YOUR DINNING ROOM POST. LOVED THEM BY THE WAY, AND THINK THEY REALLY WERE MEANT FOR THE READING NOOK. MY FRIENDS WERE IN LOVE WITH MY "MISTREATMENTS". BURLAP IS SOOOO FULL OF TEXTURE, AND IT IS COST EFFECTIVE. HUGS FROM MAINE.http://sophie4me.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteoh I love those.....I need to find some more time to test my hands at these things. I love your blog. Have you heard from HGTV yet? When do they choose? Have a great day Layla.
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteVery cool idea! I've done framed fabric but never thought to do burlap.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I just purchases burlap to use on a cork board for the current room redo we are working on. Good to know I'm in good company with the idea, it makes me feel like I'm right on track. Thanks for sharing. :)

ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Hawai'i we purchased Hawaiian coffee bags at the Aloha Flea Market and stretched them on wooden frames. Now that we live on the mainland, I have three of them hanging on our kitchen walls. The prints remind us of our years spent in paradise not to mention the wonderful tasting coffee.
ReplyDeleteI have a few french grain sacks and have wanted to get some homosote cut to fit and make a corkboard for my laundry room out of it. You have inspired me to get it done!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in love. I might have to try this.
ReplyDeletelove them!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Layla! I'm so happy to inspire others to re-use such a wonderful resource. Lots of gratitude to you and your wonderful readers for such kind words!
