Beer Garden Bench Re-do

I decided to tackle the Beer Garden Bench project myself...Mr. LC had some things to do, and I just couldn't wait to fix it up any longer. :-)

I may not have done it the "right" way, but I wanted the bench to have a very rustic feel, so "my way" worked for me. :-)

I didn't use primer on the metal legs because I don't really care if they get bumped and some of the original green paint shows through. That'll just give them more character!

The bench cost just $45, and it was exactly what I was looking for- I needed something that would hold at least three booty's. :-)

It came straight from an old beer garden in Germany, and it's got German words carved into it's underside to prove it- too cool!

I'm getting a new rug (which looks just like my old rug- that Mr. LC spilled a gallon of white paint on) to use under the Dining Room table this week- so I'll post photos of the bench in its new home soon!

Hope you can learn something from the video. I'm not making any promises though- it may end up being more for entertainment purposes only. :-)

It was fun to get away from my computer desk, and get sweaty, even if it was only for a couple of hours. (But after editng my final cut- I told Kevin he may not want to leave me alone in the backyard, with power tools and a video camera anymore- ha ha!)

Layla

PS...Here is some extra footage I shot, that didn't fit into the video above.
(Youtube doesn't allow videos that are over 10 minutes in length.) >:-(

...and one more, just for fun, that I shot on the 4th of July at my Mom's house.
I ran for my camera when I caught a glimpse of Mr. LC strumming our 3-year old nephews guitar out by the swimming pool.
(He hates it when I videotape him!) :-)

  1. The video is too cute! Love the end with the "bloopers". I think Mr. LC should let you keep making and editing your own video's!

  5. Great video. LOVE the bloopers. Although after living in the midwest with many pesky bugs, etc., it does make me appreciate nearly-bugless California.

  19. Haha, what a cute video! I have to say it was very educational to me - I'm a rookie when it comes to staining, and since I am about to do it to a piece of unfortunate furniture soon, I found the video very very interesting (I had no clue you should wipe the stain after applying!)

    So, thank you!

  28. Okay Layla, here's the deal. I read you daily and haven't commented- But now, I HAVE to.

That was seriously the best thing I've ever seen. So funny, I even made my husband watch it. Too cute.

Love the bench! It looks so good! FYI I definitely didn't know you couldn't shake stain, not that I've used it. But if I did, and didn't have a gigantic stirrer, I would have shaken it. Good to know.

Maybe with s smaller stir stick though. :)
