Happy weekend friend!
We got a lot of work done around here last week (still trying to play catch up), but we did get to break away for a few hours yesterday for this little guy's 1st birthday party...
(This pic was taken last Halloween)
And last night, I added a few more pages to the "Screened Inn" e-zine.
This time, we're featuring the "Lemonade Mermaid" bedroom.
Like the rest of the rooms in the house, we mainly used things Diane (the homeowner and property manager) already had.
We did buy a few accessories and some bedding, but other than that, we just got creative, and re-painted & re-purposed things so that they all worked together.
And since the goal of the whole re-do was to set the place up as a vacation rental, we worked in both a queen-sized bed and a twin-sized bed into this room.
Now, before you check out the new pics, here's a quick look back at the way the room looked when we got there...
Click on the flipbook below to check out how the room turned out!
Click to launch the full sized magazine
Next up, the "Sand & Sea" bedroom! So stay tuned for more pics of that, (and the living and dining room!) coming soon to a monitor near you!

ReplyDeleteHi Layla! Love what you did with the room..... It is so bright and cheery! You are so talented. : )
ReplyDeleteHealth and happiness,
Angela
I love the adorable high chair in one of the last shots. I have a similar one at home needing to be refinished and you've inspired me to consider yellow! Great work, as usual. :)
ReplyDeleteThe room is so bright, happy and incredibly inviting. Everything is beautiful but comfortable and simple. You and Kevin did such an amazing job! Bravo!!
ReplyDeleteHi Layla and Kevin-
ReplyDeleteAnother great installment with great ideas we can all use. I love the yellow clock.
That liitle guy who had his first birthday is pretty darn cute. Such kissable cheeks!
I would definitely want to stay there on vacation. What a happy place :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And I love the story of how you found the fish. It's like he swam right over to you. :-)
ReplyDeleteAll the work you have done is sooooo inspiring! I love the "e-zine"...what a great way to present the whole results package!~Patti
ReplyDeleteWow! I am in awe of all that you have created and I love your little e-zine, it's so fun and fresh to flip through. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at what was left for trash! The fish and piece of wood were great finds!

What beautiful spaces, your work is always so beautiful. I really enjoy the color combination in the kitchen, so fresh and inviting. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!

ReplyDeleteI have to say this little cottage is just delightful and perfect in every way. I think it is your most beautiful work. I love the colors used. Each room is better than the last. I can't wait to see the rest of it. Of course I love aqua and there is lots of it in this cottage so I'm all about that.
I can't wait to see more. I love the e-zine. I wish I had a hard copy of it to browse through on my bedside table. Speaking of bedside tables...those little tables for $35 each! What a find. They are adorable. The fish on the wall...what a perfect accent. How in the world did something so great end up in the trash outside the cottage...that seems very suspicious.
Thanks for sharing all of the magical goodness. Can't wait for more.
you are amazing, can you come do my house?!!! that bedroom is so cozy!
ReplyDeleteyou need a mermaid in the room though!!
are you afraid guests would steal anything, those blue ball jars alone are valuable!
one word WOW!! I wanna move in!
ReplyDeleteNatalie! ok 5 words lol
it's like i am looking through a country living magazine. love what you did to the beach house. love the turquoise with red accents.
ReplyDeletesmart idea doing this like a e-mag. beautiful work.
Absolutely charming!!! As the owner of rental property at the beach....I hope people will be respectable of just how special that place is!

ReplyDeleteMiss Layla are you trying to kill me with the picture of that ridiculously beautiful baby? :) I have been bitten by the baby bug, lately.
ReplyDeleteThe rustic pieces in the rooms looks fresh and clean! I love it!

Okay, Layla! You are truly amazing! And I am not just saying that. I loved looking through your e-zine, and I found more inspiration in those pages than in any decorating magazine I have read this year. Truly!
ReplyDeleteThat cottage is just adorable! We just got back from Hilton Head yesterday and I am so inspired by beach decor. I would love to stay in your beautiful creation!
I bet you and Kevin are having a ball. :)

ReplyDeleteHOLY HANNAH!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter Kate would say with great joy and gusto.
You kinda out did your self. Is that even possible?
Sunny, cheery and oh so inviting.
I think it would be a stuggle to pull myself out of the "Room That Hugs", even if it is to go to the beach.
I love, love everything and am going to find a way to use that lovely quote ( you always find the best ones ever)about sunshine.
So Beautiful. So talented. So Much energy you and Kevin have.
Hugs, geri.
I'm just LOVING these magazines spreads! They are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading for a LONG time, but I don't know if I've ever commented. You are so inspiring to me! I found a milk jug lamp similar to yours and thought of you and bought it! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Robin
Wow! I love the e-zine. All the rooms are beautiful. I have been reading your blog since last year. And bought your e-book. It is incredible and love all the information about how to decorate a home. I wish you can publish another e-zine about ideas on how to decorate and repurpose things.

I'm also loving the vintage-looking yellow alarm clock! I want this to be my bedroom...haha! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, that is SO crazy about the fish! I can't imagine what your reaction was when you saw that! Kind of reminds me of the way the counter-depth stainless steel "swaydor fritter" was the first thing you saw on Craigslist! :) Congrats to you and Kevin on such an awesome project. And to showcase it in that e-zine... Your guys are I-shake-my-head-inspired!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Michiganhome
Love the Metal fish and the story behind it! Just perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I could spend hours looking at those photos!! (But then if I did, my children would probably fire me because no one was getting them their lunch and snack. Sigh.)
ReplyDeleteAnother adorable makeover Layla. Very bright and cheery.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I am amazed my the wonderful things you find like the two nightstands. I am so jealous - truly those would just look fabulous in my bedroom. PS: I am still plugging away at decorating and blogging about it. If you have any tips on how to get people to your blog and actually get them to comment, I should would love some ideas. Layla and Kevin, you are my inspiration and smile maker.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah: here is my blog if anyone want to be the first to comment: http://i-am-is-my-blog.blogspot.com/ Hinty hint.
