Dear 75-year-old Kevin,
Today you painted the guest bathroom a color called "Sea Salt"...
Layla likes it because it reminds her of sea glass...
You like it because it makes her smile every time she looks at it.
:-)
Sincerely,
35-year-old Kevin

Your hysterical! You have it decorated and its not even finished..EXACTLY what the little ol coastal nest is use to.My Bob Villa calls it "getting the cart before the horse, darling" I remember putting up a great print on a wall I hadnt painted yet, but had it all primed...he painted AROUND it, we just cracked up sooo bad.
ReplyDeletethese are the days, guys!

So sweet! I love it!
ReplyDeleteKevin, my husband is not such a fan of Sea Salt either, but I love it! It reminds me of everything I love about the ocean: beauty, calm, clean, lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou're a good man, Charlie Brown.
No way! We just painted our entire garage that color! Would love for you to stop by my blog...We're renovating too:) That color is my fave! Looks beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteI was just reading your post whilst waiting for "Island Paradise" to load on Facebook....so whilst reading about your bathroom...I can here waves crashing on the shore...and seagulls chirping...or whatever it is that they do.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely color!
: )

It's coming together so nicely. What a great job on those cabinets Kevin!

As they say, "Happy wife = happy life." I agree with Kelly..."You're a good man, Kevin P."
ReplyDeleteI love that colour so much!
ReplyDeleteI love that color and I had to chuckle about you already accessorizing...too funny!
ReplyDeleteI love your bathroom redo. We are working on our own at the moment. Your home is beautiful but what makes it stellar is the love that dwells within it.
ReplyDeleteIs that a hint of green I see?? I love it and cannot wait to see the floor. :o)
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI actually love the color as much as my bride does. :-)
It's got just the right amount of gray in it to make it not feel too pastel. And it looks like a color found in nature. I'm ALL about bringing the outdoors in! Especially in a room that doesn't have any windows! :-(
Kev
so nice ! wonderful color as well I am kicking around the idea of a green in the bath too !- Sarahlynn
ReplyDeleteYou two are just so stinking cute! Love, love the new color. It's amazing (I'm sure even more so 1st hand) to see it all coming together. Happy Turkey Day, early!
ReplyDeleteperfect color (and perfect man for doing it with such a happy heart).
ReplyDeleteLOVE the color...
ReplyDeletepk @ Room Remix
It looks so serene! I love it and cannot wait to see it all finished! My husband and I are contemplating redoing our Master Bath soon - (all 75 sq ft of it!)mostly because someone put wall paper on the wall above our shower and its not liking the poorly ventilated bathroom and needs to come down. Thanks for giving us some inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I marry a Kevin?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Sea Salt! It's perfect!
... and when Layla's happy, everyone is happy :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the colour. I can see you couldn't wait to accessorize .... almost there!
It looks fabulous! I can't wait to see more. Thanks for your step-by-step guide to caulking (and your reader's tips) -- I'm actually inspired to try caulking my own trim now. I love the new Sea Salt paint -- I bet it looks great with the the new door. Continued success with the room!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. You two are so inspiring. You make me want to buy another fixer-upper…with hopes that our projects go as quickly as yours do.
ReplyDeleteOh Kevin...please share this insightful-ness with my Hubby. :)
ReplyDeleteThe sweetest!!
ReplyDeleteWell if it isn't "Mr. Perfect" himself. ;) Initially I thought Layla was writing this letter to you and it was the sweetest thing. Then I realized you were writing to yourself, and somehow, it was even sweeter.
ReplyDeleteThat color is perfect. You're exactly right about the touch of gray it has being perfect. We used a very similar color called "dolphin fin" and it also is a pretty greenish/blueish/grayish color that reminds us of the sea.
Lastly, be sure to tell Layla that my heart hurt a little when I read she never launched The Lettered Olive... and that if she has any of the signs left (that you WILL let her sell)... I'm interested!
Thanks in advance. ;)
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! :-)
ReplyDeletelovely color (and lovely name for a color)!

Looking fabulous so far!
ReplyDeleteAs a woman who just got left by her husband to go hunting while I sit here taking care of four kids with head lice- I am crying at this. Seriously y'all are awesome.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful and serene. And for a room without windows, that color does wonders....
ReplyDeleteGreat choice and great job!
Awwww. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteI love how things are looking!
Well Aren't you the sweetest, I think I need to talk to Layla and see how she gets you to do things without nagging! :) I need some advice...Looks amazing! Your the man!
ReplyDeleteCan you say "Somewhere in time?"
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see another couple TRULY in love making it work!!! Not just going through the motions...
Way back when...first little one on the way, on a 1/2-a-shoestring budget, our "song" was Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi. Love CAN conquer all - kids, remodels, and a tight budget! Just remember "the love notes" and life will always be good!!!!
Okay, after reading everyone saying "sea salt this" and "sea salt that" I now want one of Starbucks' caramel and sea salt hot chocolates. And it's not something I've ever wanted before this post! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat color guys! REALLY can't wait to see how the floor turns out.
Your letter makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteWow! That gives me hope that I may, some day (one more tuition payment) leave my 50's green behind! Maybe also the 50's tan and the pink and . . .
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous of course! We did one shade darker than sea salt (comfort gray) in our master bath, and we love it!! From your pictures, it seems like the color lights up the room and makes it all come together. Way to go! Have a wonderful thanksgiving :)
ReplyDeleteLaura
@Kevin, Oh good, I'm so glad I misunderstood and that you love Sea Salt! It is so beautiful and changes depending on the lighting. I love that whole paint chip card and have the next shade darker, Comfort Gray, in our house as well. Love it! The bathroom remodel is coming along just amazingly, Kevin and Layla!
ReplyDeleteKevin is too cute.
ReplyDeleteLucky Layla.
My laundry room is sea salt: peaceful, breathable, inspiring. The laundry gets done as a result!
ReplyDeleteHi! I love your blog and have now started my own. If you get some time please check it out. Not too much to write home about now but it is a work in progress! Thanks for inspiring me every day!
ReplyDeleteAshley
Sea Salt is one of my all time favorite SW colors. I did an entire inlaw suite for a client in SS. It's a fabulous color and it reminds me of sea glass, too!
ReplyDeletesea salt: this color is in my kitchen... it is wonderful and changes with the light of the day and takes me to the beach every morning when I wake with my tea!
ReplyDeleteCheers to you both, you are almost done! it looks beautiful.
Lizzy
We just remodeled our kitchen/dining room with Sea Salt. I love it with our cabinets and granite! Love your work!
ReplyDeleteThat color is simple DREAMY! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Kevin and Layla.
ReplyDeleteThat color says "Block Island" all over it.
Block Island is a very small island in R.I. where time goes by a bit slower,& colors are about speaking to peaceful, warm summer days rocking on a porch looking out at the sea.
That is what sea salt says to me.
Love the whole vibe.Love the whole room.
Can you please tell me who makes sea-salt.
Thank you. geri.
Hi Geri!
ReplyDeleteAlways such a pleasure to hear from you. :-) The color "Sea Salt" is a Sherwin Williams color, although we had ours mixed at True Value.
Thanks for visiting!
Layla

ReplyDeleteVery calm and soothing....calgon take me away :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Job...
Janet

ReplyDeleteHi Kevin and Layla,
ReplyDeleteKev, I didn't know you had it in you. The bathroom is really looking great. Can't wait to come up and see it when it is all finished. While looking at the video, I thought, is that the son I raised? Just kidding. You are doing a great job. Dad and I are proud of both of you.
I love that colour and the name of the paint, cool choice.
ReplyDeleteI see shades of my own husband (who is 67) in you! I predict you will season like a fine wine....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paint job...my house next? Why is it you never agree to come to my house and duplicate your efforts???!! ;)
Looking good! Love the bathroom color!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Alexandra
Just painted the guest room that same color! Can't wait to see all of the changes in your bathroom:)
