VA Beach Room Re-do Items & Behind-The-Scenes

Howdy! Hope you had a great weekend. We spent most of today getting "back on track". Luggage, laundry and litter, oh my. If I didn't know any better I'd think our cat purposely threw paw fulls of litter onto the floor in front of his litter box to punish us for leaving him. That, or he used it as confetti to celebrate that we went away. :-)
I also managed to compile the list of items we used in the room re-do we did in Virginia Beach today. All of the photos below link to the stores where we purchased the items.

"Designview" Maple Louvera Roman Shade:

(We bought one that measured 31" wide, and another that measured 72" wide to simulate the look of double windows above the headboard.)

"Darjeel" double curtain rods in bronze:

Drop Cloths:

"Alvine Trad" curtains:

(We used these behind the drop cloth drapes to add another layer of color and pattern to the room.)

"Riktig Ogla" curtain ring clips:

Pottery Barn king-sized "Classic Ticking" duvet and euro shams in blue:

Pottery Barn "Kristine" 20" pillow covers:

Pottery Barn "Pick-Stitch" 12x24 lumbar pillow cover in ink blue:

12x24 lumbar pillow insert:

(We used this lumbar pillow on the window seat)

8x10 "Cooper" Cotton Rug in blue:

31" wide "Billy" bookcase:

(We used two of these in Brandon and Heather's room)

15.75" wide "Billy" bookcase:

"Billy Byom" doors for the lower half of the two wide "Billy" bookcases:

(We used four of these to give Brandon and Heather extra storage for folded clothes.)

Knobs for the doors:

(The doors did come with little knobs, but they were plain, white pegs and we wanted to do something a little more fancy)

Beadboard wallpaper:

(One roll covered the backs of all three bookcases)

Bookcase lights:

"Hemnes" dresser:

(We used this small piece of furniture just inside the bedroom door. Although, Brandon and Heather's armoire (which they had previously used in this spot) is tall, dark and handsome, it's also very deep. Using this shorter, lighter-colored, shallow piece allows you to see the whole room when you come through the door, which is much more refreshing than walking into the side of a huge armoire.)

Tip Du Jour: The wall here wasn't very wide, so all the "adult-sized" dressers I looked at were all too wide. I ended up finding this smaller-scale dresser in the childrens furniture department. You can often find the same style furniture pieces there, but they're just a little smaller in scale, which is exactly what we needed here!

(The mirror above the small dresser is from Walmart)

Small "Jonsbo Egby" table lamp:

"Beta" plant pot:

"Kardemumma" plant pot:

"Branas" baskets:

"Agen" baskets:

6" and 8 3/4" "Sockerart" white enamelware pitchers:

(We used the small and medium-sized pitchers on top of the armoire.)

"Fejka" artificial plants:

(Heather said she didn't have a green thumb, so I picked up a couple of these artificial plants. We used the first one and the third one.)

"Sagolik" lidded jars:

"Beach" sign from White Flower Farmhouse:

Driftwood Sailboat from White Flower Farmhouse:

The paint color we used on the walls is "Cream Fleece" (233) by Benjamin Moore.

It was a very busy three days, but we did manage to sneak in some time to shoot a little video ourselves...

If you want to check out the segment that aired on CBN, you can watch it here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We want to send a big thanks out to all the fine folks who helped us finish the room on time. (The scenic department at CBN rules!) Tomorrow, it's back to work on design consultations for me, and the guest bathroom reno for Kevin. It's great to be back, and we're excited to blog about the transformation throughout the week!

Layla

Shopping with someone else's money sounds like a dream. The room looks great and gave me some good ideas. Especially love the picket sign.

I'm so happy you gave us all the info on all the accessories!

Every video you two do is just darling but I did notice one thing. At the end it says www.letteredcottage.com. Is that right? I think I messed that up once on your button on my blog and had to fix it to .net.

Anyway, glad you two had a blast. You did an amazing job!

The leg work involved in hunting down all those items from different places!!! And that's before any of the muscle begins!

You guys are out of this world!

Soooo glad you are both back.
I did almost fall of my chair laughing about the Cat's litter being the confetti in the celebration or party that went on "being home alone". Too funny.
Enjoy being back home in your "house that hugs". geri.

Thank you so much for posting what you used in the room! I love the curtains and I love that you posted what you used. I never would have thought about layering and I love the look! But I have a suggestion - I clicked on the picture which led me to the Home Depot site and the blinds didn't look nearly as fabulous as your pictures from the room. Maybe you can contact Home Depot with pictures of their products and they can pay you to use them. :)

Thank you so much! I was wanting to know where the bookcases came from.

Could you tell me what band is singing, what music you use for this video ? I live in France and am not familiar with this kind of music, that's why I would like to know more about it. Thank you !!!!! and keep up the good work ! I am waiting for your bathroom to come up nice and cosy !
