China Hutch Update

If you guessed that I was adding some GREEN to my Kitchen, you guessed right!

I painted the inside/back of my hutch that same color that I painted my back door.

This hutch has come a long way. It started with wood-colored drawers & lower doors, and super traditional pulls.

So I did this, with these drawer pulls I already had:

And the sliding doors didn't have knobs, so I added these knobs I got for 87 cents:

And here she is today...with her pretty, new green interior:

Then I got to do the fun part. Accessorize!
I used things I already had around the house, so it's not exactly what I would fill it with in a perfect world, but it'll have to do for now. :-)

I can't wait to inject even more color into my Kitchen through the beadboard backsplash (which I've now decide to paint this same shade of green), window treatments, artwork and rugs.

I think I'll work on the artwork next...

That green paint is fabulous. Love it in your cabinet against the white & black.

I have to ask..how did you get your plates to stand up (against the beadbord)? Every time I try to do that, they slouch and eventually slide down.

I love your hutch. Is that going in your kitchen or do ya'll have a dining area?

Hi Jennifer!

There is a little groove for the plates to stand up in. :-)
Kevin still wants me to use double sided velcro on the backs of the plates, just to be sure they don't fall. (Usually I'M the worry wart!)

And Hi Deb!

Yes, the hutch sits in our kitchen...no room in our Dining Room! You can click on the "Kitchen" tab on the right side bar of my blog to see more photos of exactly where it sits if you'd like to see.

Cant wait to see your beadboard backsplash. I was considering this option but decided since I have beadboard other places it might be to much. Its going to look fantastic in your kitchen. Love that green.

Absolutely stunning! The green is perfect (as is the hardware) but it's the arrangement of the items on the shelves that really gets me. You have a real eye for display.

WOW~~ Your hutch is so pretty. I love the green in the back. I just painted a hutch black and put it in my bedroom with all my white lines in it. I love it. My hutch in the dinning room has all white dishes in it also, but it is a dark wood. I bought it at a goodwill store for $45.00 I want to paint it but its kinda chippy in places and I like that. It breaks up for my kitchen cabinets that are way to smooth.I just want to bang them up some but I'm afraid my husband would but me away!
Have a great day,

You could have left that hutch alone and it would be gorgeous. But that splash of green is pure perfection! I love it! AND I love all the accessories you put in there! Beautiful!

Wow! I love the punch of green. Now, I am "no designer" (like you) but I think that nice thing about green is that it looks so fresh and it also will work with so many holiday decor items
