I am SO excited about my mention on "Blogs Of Note" today!!! How cool!

I am painting the Kitchen, adding more beadboard, and painting the Dining Room today and tomorrow...stay tuned for a video of the process tomorrow or the next day.

Exciting News!

I have been formally asked to submit more materials to the HGTV Design Star competition!
The next step is an audition in Hollywood, so this is an important round. Hopefully I'll have more exciting news to share in January. :-)

The show tapes for six weeks, sometime between the dates of February 26th and April 30th. I can't imagine not being able to blog for 6 weeks- but wouldn't it be amazing!?

I'll keep ya posted, and THANK YOU so much for all your support. I reeeeeally appreciate it!

Dining Room Inspiration

My Mom is thinking about doing a painted picnic table in her Dining Room, so I thought I'd post an inspiration photo....such a cute idea isn't it? :-)

She is, in turn, is giving me the Dining table and chairs she currently has.
They have been in my family for 100 years. They were a wedding gift for my Great Grandparents. The table has like 12 leaves!! We are so excited about this new addition to the Lettered Cottage. It's a dark wood, so I think it'll work nicely with the white beadboard as a backdrop.
I'm painting the Dining Room and Kitchen right after Christmas, so there will be lots of updated photos to share then. I can hardly wait!





For those of you who have asked me what the name of the color I'm using is, I don't know the name, but I will post the mixture information here when I post the updated photos. :-)

Mom's Christmas Tree - 2008

I'm going to visit my Mom again on the 23rd and 24th, but I couldn't wait to see her tree til then, so I asked if she'd send me some photos.

Every year her trees stick to a certain theme. This year it's Cardinals. It's SO PRETTY! (Sorry, this one's a little blurry)



She found some grapevine in her woods, (GOTTA LOVE FREE GRAPEVINE) and I LOVE the way it looks around the tree...



If I can talk her into letting me do it, I will take some more photos of their ADORABLE Craftsman style home while I'm down there visiting. It is MAGICAL!
