Eastbrook Flea Market- with Rhoda and Cathy

If you haven't been to Rhoda's Blog, "Southern Hospitality", yet today- head on over there and read her take on our day at the Eastbrook Flea & Antique Mall.
I met up with her and another blog friend, Cathy, on Monday, and the three of us had a ball! It was the first time I have really been out of the house this whole month, and I'm tellin' ya- we probably could have just set up a tent in the middle of the place and stayed there all night. It was so good for my soul. Talking, laughing...it felt like we had been friends forever. (And, apparently they both got the memo about wearing black that day) :-)

Our rendezvous really made me feel ALIVE. (Thank you so much Rhoda and Cathy!)

So...you're wondering what I took home with me, aren't you? :-)

I spotted this old barnwood trough on the floor in one of the booths, and it was love at first sight...

Images of what I could use it for started to dance in my head. My adrenline started to rush, and I knew I must have this rustic beauty!

Right now, I've got some magazines & coffee table books inside of it. (I got the Pottery Barn "Bathrooms" book for $4.99 on their website, by the way) But while I was at Eastbrook, I envisioned it filled with green apples, sitting on top of a gigantic creamy-white Dining Table.
I could also see it holding terrariums and chunky candles, of various heights. Speaking of terrariums, I love these glass cloches and their mossy terracotta bases, by Park Hill...

(And look at the little letters on the front side of the table they're on!!!)

I also picked up two vintage log scale sticks, and a ruler that reads, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"...

I love that the log scale sticks have writing on all four sides.

I found the perfect place to use these in my Kitchen, so after I clean them up and have them installed...I'll post photos of them.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me email messages and left comments here on my blog.
I truly appreciate each and every one. I am perpetually inspired by your positivity and virtual friendship.

Great finds! Don't you love that thrill of the hunt when you find something and you KNOW you have to have it? I'm a pretty frugal gal, but I would have pounced on the barnwood trough too.

Layla, it sounds like a great day and great finds.

I had an awesome time, thank you for inviting me. You and Rhoda have some really great ideas and great eyes for bargains. Thank you for helping me to make the decision on the door. When I saw it last month, I just wasn't sure and I'm so glad it was still there. The gentleman that talked about the rulers was a sweetheart, I could have listened to him for hours, what a hoot! I hope your schedule will allow us to get together again soon..it was such a nice day!

Y'all stay dry and have a wonderful day!

Don't ever tell me where you live or I will have to come over and steal the beautiful pieces you have.
Oooh, that sounds creepy. Sorry I was just kidding, but not about the great eye you have for design.

Hah! I wonder if that ruler had an alternative purpose back in the day? To have such a moral lesson printed on it?

We had the BEST time & must do it again before too long. I just love your finds too, Layla, & I know you'll find the perfect spot for those rulers. And yes, that trough is SO you and perfect in your cottage. xoxo

I am so glad you and Rhoda met up and I am also jealous. Too bad I don't live closer. Maybe one day we could also get together. I would love to have a girls day out and design talk as well. Great finds

I love anything rustic....the barn wood was cool! I am so eager to meet some of my bloggy friends some day! I'm glad you had a great time!

Layla, I was so looking forward to joining in the fun on Monday but I had other obligations I had to meet but I've told Rhoda next time I hope nothing gets in my way! You know, Eastbrook is old stomping grounds for me (as well as you) and I love just going and looking around. So many of my friends still have booths there and it's always neat to see their treasures.

I hope you and I get to meet soon. Maybe one day soon I'll scoot up to Prattville and you and I can get together for a little bit, that would be neat!

Hugs!

I'm officially obsessed with your blog! :-) Everything you do is just so perfect and cute! I have never looked at Cathy's blog so I will have to head over there. Rhoda is awesome! Love her blog, too. She's total class.

Yours is one of those blogs where I just can't wait to see what you'll come up with next. You're so talented.

Wow, great finds!!! I can't believe you got that Pottery Barn book for $4.99. I got mine on Ebay for like $10 each, and the covers were ripped a little. I'll definitely be checking out the site for the others I need in my collection.

I looooooooove flea markets. I wish we had some good ones in my town.

Love your stuff! That looks like a fabulous place, makes me wish I lived in the south to take advantage! Flea markets in Ohio are mostly a spring thing, so hopefully soon!

It is so refreshing to look at these things through your eyes. I feel a bit like I am in training for seeing the beauty is older and simple items.

So lucky you got to meet Rhoda. I've been reading her blog for a couple of years now and found you through her. Too bad I'm WAY up north in Chicagoland.

well, i don't have a funky cool flea market, but I looked up yours. I am going to stop in next time I go visit my son in Tuscaloosa! Thanks for the tip!
