I'm still under the weather today, but I did manage to put together an Ideabook that will appeal to all the "junkers" in da Houzz. :-)
The inspiration for this weeks article came from Theresa and Craig Smith's double-wide mobile home, featured in Country Living a few years back. They've decorated their double-wide with salvaged materials and antiques, and it is simply divine. Here's a video which showcases their magnificent kitchen:

I already left a comment about how great you guys look in this issue of the Nest - but here's another:)
And holy crap - talk about amazing use of space - that trailer kitchen is phenomenal! So inspiring.
That house is crazy! Who would have know you were inside a double wide?! That just goes to show what a little creativity can net you!
I just received my " the nest " and so excited to read it. You look good on the cover : -)
What a great Kitchen Love the cabinets!!
OHHHHHH!!! I just loved her space...and I must find me one of those HUGE signs. They are great!
Wow!
Hope you get better soon!
I still have the pages to Theresa house that I cut out of Country Living. I absolutely fell in love with her home and style!
LOVE it!
If I ever move to a double wide. . .I want all that architectural salvage--just awesome. What a delightful woman and her hubby who "can do anything!"
Awwwwwww!

PS - Layla, do you have a link to the Nest shoot & article?
I remember this Country Living feature of the double-wide and I have always been so impressed with folks that transform these less expensive homes into something fabulous. The quality and building codes for manufactured homes today is really good and with todays economy it may be a way for some folks to get a larger home at a lower price.
This video was just absolutely amazing. It really is true that our only limitation is our imagination. Well~ and the pocketbook. Such fun.
That kitchen is amazing!! Hard to believe that it is a doublewide trailer. Love & blessings from NC!
Wow! I can't believe that was a doublewide! Your idea book is amazing. I see industrial pieces in a whole new light. Thanks Layla!
Feel better soon!
I remember seeing this issue of Country Living but it's nice to be reminded of the creative decorating that can happen in any living space.
Hey Layla!
I was so tickled to see this post about the double wide! This couple lives in Glendale KY and we live in Georgetown KY, about an hour away from there. I love that she found architectural pieces from a horse barn in Lexington (just down the road from me) and how she used all those pieces. I LOVE LOVE LOVE architecture, especially the old white chippy pieces. :) Seeing this piece gave me even more inspiration to start on a couple of rooms in my house that I've been holding off on re-doing. :) Thanks Layla and I truly hope you feel better.......I prayed for you this morning. :)

Their home is amazing.
So right when I heard, decorate your space for you to enjoy, not thinking about constraits or re-sale, which I think is often a
very limiting concern.
Thank you Layla and Kevin. You always have such very interesting things posted and such creative people that I so enjoy reading about and seeing.
Hope today finds you feeling amazingly better. geri.
As someone who live in a double wide - this fills me with hope! Thanks for sharing.
That was so inspiring! My parents are antique dealers in MD (ever been to the Crumpton auction in Crumpton, MD? That is a "tossed and found" paradise. Not free (unless you want to walk around an pick the discards which is fun), but an event. They go every week and have an amazing old chicken house filled with 'stuff'. Now I live in TX and miss all my freebies.
Awwww..I hope you're feeling much better today! I told Madison that you and Mr. Kevin may come by for a visit and she let out a scream that the neighbors heard (I'm sure). Guess yall are loved by my family too...susie bloop~
You so hit the nail on the head with this one, Layla. I'd seen the photos of this mobile home a couple years ago, but never knew there was video footage of it. I was wonderful to see her room "come alive" on video. Her decorating is absolutely spot on and she's a total visionairy.

Great post! Love the Island! lulu
I cannot believe that she was able to find such great pieces to replace the kitchen cabinets. Who would have thought of that? I absolutely love what they did and wish they would've shown the rest of the house.
Hi guys!! Layla this is a great ideabook! I sure hope you are feelning better. Sinus problems are the worst!
I've always loved the article in CL about this couple. Amazing what you can do, isn't it?
Layla I have used the neti sinus rinse you have pictured here daily for four years and have not had one single cold or flu. "knock on wood" I have terrible allergies and it really helps alot.
I hope you feel better very soon.
Take Care & Stay Warm.
~Melissa :)
I live in a double wide that doesn't look like that...yet! Still workin on it, but I love my house!
