Reader Letter - Nursery

Dear Layla-

Your Reading Room with its horizontal stripes inspired me!
My husband and I currently on the waiting list to adopt a baby.
It has been a long journey and much like most of life, where we started is not where we ended up. After the realization that I could not do a traditional blue or pink room because uncertainty of the of domestic adoption, I set out to create a neutral room.
When I saw the stripes in your Reading Room, I thought "this is it"!
I've attached a few pictures of the finished product. It was hard to give the dream up of blue and pink, but we absolutely love this room. We did the moulding and painting ourselves, and feel like it's such a soothing room. We know that one day God will bless us with a sweet baby to bring home to this perfect room!
Thanks for sharing your gift, your creativity, your inspiration, and your heart!

Our daughter is adopted and we too did her first nursery where it would work for a boy or girl (except we used aqua blue) Best wishes to you! Okay I'm officially freaked out that this person has the exact same taste as me. We don't even have kids yet but my one day dream for a nursery was tan and cream stripes, wood paneling on bottom, and black furniture.

Beautiful nursery! Praying the wait is soon over and your baby will be in your arms (and family) very soon.

The nursery is so beautiful. The baby that is to call it home will be so blessed. I pray that a child comes quickly for Emily and her husband. I, also, love the giant diaper pin. I only wish that we could see a close up of the words on the wall behind the crib.

i don't think that nursery needs pink or blue.. it's PERFECT the way it is!! i saw an episode w/ sarah brown's show about 2 yrs ago, where she did a neutral nursery, and was so bummed that i never thought of that! [had the typical baby colors in all of mine] anyway, thanks for sharing this lovely room!! OH- and if there's one thing, besides the bundle of joy, that could put the finishing touch.. Kim, over at Small Words, makes beautiful baby name artwork! check her out @ http://www.shopsmallwords.com/

many blessings to the mom & dad to be!!

Two of my favorite things - pretty rooms and adoption! I tend to feel like "gender neutral" rooms rarely actually look neutral, but this one is perfect! One of the best I've seen. Fantastic job! LOVE that diaper pin and the custom molding!

It is truly exciting to see so many comments from families who have "made it" through the adoption process with all of its uncertainties. so cute and a nice "neutral" without lots of green and yellow. I love how they put up a picture of themselves on the wall! So the baby can look and see Mommy and Daddy. God bless as they seek to adopt!

Emily,

My husband and I found out about 3 weeks ago that we were selected to adopt a baby boy. He is to be born in October, and we will take him home from the hospital. Right now we are hurrying to get everything done, and I am very inspired by your nursery. Love it!

Sincerely,
Danelle

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful room!

Ahhh, I have a large bamboo safety pin like that also. That brings my current inventory of things also seen on this site to 3 - the caned wing chairs (we have 2), the Pottery Barn Kristine pillow covers (got at the outlet for $1.99 each, thankyouverymuch), and now the safety pin! Ha! I never knew I was so "trendy" until I started looking around your site! Except you guys work them into a room much better than we do!

Thanks for all you share!
