Ga Ga for Galvanized

I just can't get enough of galvanized accessories! We carry these galvanized pedestals at LetteredCottageHome.com and I just had to get myself a set to use here at the Lettered Cottage.

They come in three different sizes...

...and we also carry three different sized glass cloches that you can use on top of them to really dress them up. (The glass cloche in the photo above is not one of the ones we carry)

I couldn't wait to get done shooting these photos so that I could gobble up some of the chocolate-covered strawberries Sarah made...

(Diet? What diet? Chocolate is fat free, right?)

When I'm not using them to display delicious pastries, they look just as great on the kitchen counter filled with artificial (or real) fruit and veggies.
(I can also see a pile of pretty soaps, seashells or coral, candles and maybe a bird nest on them in a bathroom as well!)

When it gets a little closer to Halloween, I'm really going to have fun with them. Among other things, I'd like to use some small white pumpkins or gourds on them, and who knows, maybe I'll even incorporate a little hay into our tablescape. I'm kinda crazy like that. :-) Mr. LC never knows what I'm going to be dragging through the door next!

In other news, I was confined to my office yesterday, while Kevin worked on the house with a couple of fine young gentlemen out in the Living and Dining rooms. You're not going to believe your eyes when you see what they did! As soon as the job is finished, I'll share all the before and afters. It's amazing what 3 grown men can accomplish in just 8 hours. At one point, I ventured out to offer them some of those chocolate-covered strawberries and proceeded to trip (backwards) over an old board and landed squarely on my bottom. That's when I noticed the sharp, old nail connecting the bottom of my foot to the board. Oh yeah, it went in about a half an inch. All the way through my flip flop and up into my foot. So needless to say, I'm limping around today, and anticipating a giant bruise on my backside. These things are bound to happen when you buy a fixer upper I guess.
Blood, check. Sweat, check. Tears, check.

Layla :-)

Have you had a tetanus shot recently? You might need one!

Layla.
Immediately after I get hurt I usually say words that even surprise me and then look for something to hit (sometimes my poor hubby).
Then I say why this house...and get my self right back on the decorating bull again.
I heard chocolate strawberries will help your foot heal faster.hehe
Be safe. Geri.

Seriously, you need to make sure you've have a tetanus shot within the last five years!!!
As a young girl growing up on a farm I had two memorable encounters with rusty nails.....hurts like the dickens!

Ouch! Sounds like something I would do. :) I have torn a tendon doing yardwork, broken a toe feeding the dogs & fallen through an attic, twice.

Like most others said, please make sure you have your tetanus.

I hope you're OK Layla! Your table is gorgeous and I'll check out your cloche's as I've been searching for one large enough to cover my ironstone dairy slab. Can't wait to see what the guys accomplished at your place yesterday.

Love the galvanized look!! The cloches have always been my favorite. They make even ordinary food look like it's a party. (your food isn't ordinary it looks delish) Hope your foot is ok and I agree a tetanus shot is in order :))

Did you see the pics of the beach house where the designer used smallish galvanized buckets to make lampshades for the utility area? I'm thinking it was BH&G or maybe Coastal Living???

Anyway, imagine it's a rather easy DIY project, and very, very clever!

Oh, no! Like everyone else, I hope your shots are up to date!

Looking forward to seeing what the guys were working on.

I love the galvanized stuff too. Missed a huge galvanized platter the other day at an auction, could have kicked myself, but did not, but the same platter is kind of like a dog dish I got either at Wal-Mart or Tractor Supply, so going to get 1 of these, going to put extra apples in it. Maybe post about it with some other projects I am hoping to finish. I love your blog and read it daily.

I did that too a few months ago while renovating a room--drove to the hospital in a freak SC snowstorm to get a tetanus shot. They did xrays to make sure parts of the shoe sole didn't get pushed up into my foot as well. Apparently that's a bigger concern than tetanus. Ended up with antibiotics, an immobile arm from the shot, and nerve damage in my foot that took 6 weeks to heal. Take care of yours, seriously!

I can't wait to see the pictures! I absolutely love your house!

Did anyone tell you to get a tetanus shot?? If not, think about it. :) Don't want you getting something from that. I've stepped on nails before too, not fun.

Oh, and I see the new mirror! Love, love it, it's perfect.

Ouch! I hope everything turns out OK and that you heal fully. Ironic, isn't it, that the guys were doing all this work for 8 hours and you're the one injured.

Love the tablescape with the galvanized accessories. Such great ideas for accessorizing them, too. I have a friend who puts fake cakes and pastries on her pedestals; not my style, but she enjoys them.

OK, OK, I won't tell you to make sure you have had a recent tetanus shot as I am sure you have gotten that message. Loved your table and can't wait for the reveal. I was really wondering how Fleamarket was doing? Does Mr. LC like him?

I love galvanized things. I'll have to send pictures of my galvanized items. You would die - my buffet is out of an old house in Pittsburgh and the finish is worn and awesome, with a galvanized top. I also have sap buckets and other things lying around...
