Wonderful! How exciting! I have seen your home many times and I can never get over all that you have done with it. It is simply fabulous! I have probably missed it, but please tell the story of the dresser and mirror in your guest room.
SMiles!

I love, love, love it!!!!! I do have a question though. Do you regret painting over your natural wood walls? Our house has the natural wood paneling throughout and I sometimes think I would really regret painting over it. I love your look now and the painted walls make the room look so much bigger. Awesome house!!!

Awesome, Layla!! Personally, I could live in your home in a New York minute ~ and I'm picky. Loved the article and loved the pics. You and Kevin rock :)

Loved it! and now that I know where you are (and not too far from me) please tell me how to get to the good flea markets near you. You have found some excellent things and it's exciting to know its not too far. =]

Yay! I'm so happy to see you guys on Apartment Therapy. I was going through AT house tours the other night and marveling at how almost every. single. one was some variation on modern or retro mod, which is nothing I aspire my home to be. You are definitely a breath of fresh air over there!!

Awesome article! I never get tired of looking at pictures of your house.

Did you paint the hearth of your fireplace? I'm itching to cover up the ugly tile we have on ours, but replacing it is not in the budget right now, so I was eyeing the high-heat spraypaint at HD yesterday...

I wanted to leave some warm fuzzies after some of those cold prickly comments at AT. LOVE the neutrals - it requires us to notice the subtleties, notice the details. I personally don't need to be hit over the head with color in order to notice what's going on in a room.
As a frequent visitor to your blog, I've enjoyed your journey in seeking & finding just the right accessories, like vintage spools. Not from Pottery Barn! Good enough to be, but they took a little more effort than that. Do the AR readers know you made the kitchen bench from a headboard? That you mixed & matched the cushions, and used a fellow entrepreneur for the craftsmanship? Definitely good enough to be PB, but even better because it's not :) Your cottage is amazing, and I love the DIY energy of it all!

Can I just ditto what Dawn said? Your house is just beautiful and so peaceful. It looks very personal to me and after seeing what you've done to the place, you have definitely made the house your home.

Great exposure with the interview and pictures.

I was unhappy with some of the comments. I was taught to keep my mouth shut if I could not say anything nice. (I know I sometimes slip up.) I found some of the people rude and extremely opinionated. Yes, your decorating is different than mine, but my appreciation of what you two have accomplished on your own is tremendous.

Appreciating different tastes, different lifestyles, different customs, etc is part of being a well rounded individual.
