Home Sweet Hairballs

We're home!

And, boy oh boy, do we have some cleaning/weeding/mowing/mail-sorting to do.

It's crazy what can happen to a place when you go away for three weeks!
(How can one kitty cat, and one 9 pound dog shed SO much fur!?!?!)

But before we even think about tackling any of that "fun stuff", I thought I'd post a few more photos of our "Screened Inn" project before I hit the hay tonight.

I plan to blog about each room separately this week, but since we got so many comments about being "teases" after our "Open House Day" post, I thought I better post some more pics a.s.a.p!

But, just so ya know, that pic really wasn't meant to be a tease!

I literally only had about thirty spare minutes before I had to get out of the house for the real estate open house on Sunday (the day after our open house).

But since we shoot in Raw (instead of jpeg), it takes several hours to import/convert/download/upload/sidewaysload/proof/photoshop/crop
a hundred million photos
(that's seriously about how many we took while we were there!),
I thought including one would be better than including none.
So I scrambled to the last second to make sure I could get that pic in there before we had to skidaddle!

(Me, scrambling to the last second in my "office" at Screened Inn, before the real estate open house.)

Anywho...I proofed a few more shots of the place tonight...

I look forward to bloggin' about our experience (and sharing LOTS more pics!) this week- but for now, it's waaay past my bedtime, and I've got a very important snuggle date with a puppy named Max...

...and a birthday boy named Kevin.

I'm wondering about the fifth picture from the bottom with the blue door and white chair? What is the hanging thing made out of? It is so cool and I would love to have one.

I laughed when I saw the "Hippies use the back door" sign. My 23-year-old daughter was given that same sign by a good friend; it's one of her favorite possessions.

Lovely work on the cottage; I want to move right in!

You both have done such an amazing job with this place. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics. By the way...Max is way adorable.

I do have a question: I am from the north, transplanted in the south and have noticed lots of porch ceiling painted pale blue, what does that mean?

Cottage Dreamers said...

Ahhh! Love that porch! I've been thinking about painting the ceiling in our bedroom blue, now I think I'll try it for sure. All of our interior ceilings are exposed like the porch and we have white plank walls throughout the house and I wasn't sure how I'd like it with a blue ceiling but that porch is amazing!!!

Anyway the place looks incredible..and in only 3 weeks!good job! glad you documented for us wannabes :)

Ahh...Max is so adorable! Love that guy! We have a min pin named Toby and I know....they love to cuddle. The pics are awesome. I can't wait to see each room. Your decorating style is so inspiring. Now, if I could just get a cottage in Tybee, I'd be set.

I LOVE that you hung that chippy yellow hutch thing on the wall. I was imagining it as a dresser type thing on the floor, but was WOW'd when I saw it hanging. ALL the pictures are beautiful! Even though I want to see more pics ASAP, I think you deserve a break. Relax & enjoy being home for a bit...take some time to yourself!

Happy Birthday Kevin & Anniversary to both of you!

Your photos of the decorating are great...can't wait for the rest of them. I shoot in RAW as well and whilst I love the advantage, editing 300 photos is very time consuming. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Congratulations to you both and I love your infectious smiles and laughter.

I want your porch!!! I also LOVE the sand in the jar/RELAX letters. So perfect. Makes me want to go to the beach.

Layla, I loooooovvvve the "Hippies Use the Backdoor" sign. I'm all about a cute sign and might need one. Where in the world (the south) did that come from? BTW, addicted to The Lettered Cottage!

The porch absolutely rocks - I could sit there for hours! The 'Screened Inn" is perfect and I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of the tour.

Happy Anniversary to you both and Happy Birthday to Kevin!

Funny, funny, thing Layla. . .I have been reading/following your life/blog for probably a year or more now. I often share things with my husband. . .we are so inspired by you and Kevin!!! Anyhoo, last week we were traveling through Alabama and stopped in Prattville for lunch. My husband was commenting about how much he liked the area and here I am "Oh, I *know* someone who lives here. Well, she doesn't know me but I know her. . .you do too. . .that couple that fixed up that cottage that we get so much inspiration from. Yea. Them." Such a funny thing this blog world is. . .you feel like you "know" people even though you don't. . .and then when you go through their hometown you feel like there is a connection there. Ha! And, just to be a bit more creepy (really, NOT a stalker, don't have time!!) we *almost* changed our vacation destination due to the oil spill and one of the places I was looking at was Tybee Island since you had written about it earlier this year. . .I found those entries and we considered it. . .just like I would consider any advice from any friend. All this to say. . .really liked your hometown and really can't wait to see *everything* from your most recent trip. You have such an incredible eye.

I just found you, and how lucky am I? You are going to post MORE details later? I can feel the inspiration starting already. :) Thanks for taking the time to post these fab shots.

Very cute! I used to have that hippie sign hanging in my kids game room. They did not think it was funny like I did. lol!

I just posted pics of my own screened in project if you care to look.

And as for naming projects, oh goodness, we have a cabin in the woods. It is literally built on top of a big limestone outcropping on the side of the mountain. It's our getaway... we named it "Peace of the Rock."

Welcome home! I can't wait to see more pictures and ideas. I draw such inspiration from you. I even started redoing my own little condo. I am finding my inner decorator and it is giving me such happiness. I also started a blog to show my progress. May seem like old hat to many but to me, it has been quite the revelation that I have a style. Please stop by my blog and leave any comments or thoughts or ideas. All will be welcomed. http://i-am-is-my-blog.blogspot.com/
